The fast wave concept iterative process (FWCIP) and the boundary element method (BEM) are combined to evaluate the characteristic impedance of a microstrip filter, which is composed of (8×8) metallic via holes array. Simulations, measurements, and previous publications are in good agreement. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 12: 236–246, 2002.
