The stability of convective motion of a fluid driven by volumetric heat sources and applied pressure gradient is investigated. The viscosity of the fluid is assumed to depend linearly on temperature. The sufficient conditions for the existence of such a flow are obtained based on the energy inequalities. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
