In this paper, a specific type of eigenfunctions for the Gamma operator Γ on the unit sphere S m −1 in ℝ m is constructed within the context of Clifford analysis, by means of a recursive argument. This leads to zonal decompositions for the spherical monogenics. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
