The goal of the paper is to study structurally damped elastic waves in 2D. A suitable diagonalization procedure allows to derive WKB representations for solutions to the Cauchy problems. As consequences, we obtain results on energy decay with and without additional regularity for the data, Gevrey smoothing, and propagation of singularities for the visco‐elastic damped elastic wave model.
