We reprove global well‐posedness and scattering for the defocusing energy‐critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation in five dimensions. Inspired by the recent work of Killip and Visan, we adapt the Dodson's strategy ‘long‐time Strichartz estimate’ used in the work on mass‐critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation sets.
