The system originating from the theory of two‐dimensional hyperbolic chiral fields and the theory of self‐dual Yang‐Mills fields over ℝ 2 + 2 is studied. The existence of global solutions for the Cauchy problem is established. It is observed that the system is completely integrable and one method of construction of a new solution is presented.
