This paper contains an introduction to the methods of operator‐valued functions for solving some non‐linear eigenvalue problems of the electrodynamics of guided waves. One simple example of the problem of fundamental frequencies for the rectangular‐slot resonator is considered that gives an opportunity to follow all the steps and features of this technique.
