Abstract In this paper, a periodic impulsive delay single population system with hereditary effect is established. The constant impulse is realized at fixed moments of time. By using the comparison principle of impulsive differential equations and analysis techniques, the permanence of the system is obtained. It shows that the constant impulsive stocking plays an important role. Numerical simulations are presented to substantiate our analytical results. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
