Twenty‐five human cadavers were examined to study the anatomy of the closed vascular system between the retroauricular artery and the retroauricular vein in the skin on the posterior aspect of the auricle and the mastoid process. The mean external diameters of the vessels supplying this region are 1.2 mm (artery) and 1.4 mm (vein). A flap averaging 5 × 7 cm may be taken from this area for use as facial cover.
