Dozens of colleagues and friends paid tribute June 30 to Ron Manderscheid, Ph.D. , executive director of the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors and the National Association for Rural Mental Health, who is retiring. Prior to his current positions, Manderscheid had also served at various posts in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the National Institute of Mental Health. Manderscheid heard from many during the Zoom gathering who saluted his leadership, expertise and support in the field. He praised President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who, he says, “understand the need for a public health system and they are going to work with us.” He added, “This is a wonderful opportunity in the current environment. I encourage you all to take advantage.”
