Bipartisan legislation to provide the first comprehensive definition of peer support services in the Medicare law has been introduced in Congress. The bill, which recognizes the unique role of peer support specialists who complement therapists, case managers and physicians as part of a coordinated team, has also garnered the support of more than 40 mental health organizations.
