This pandemic represents a moment in history when suicide prevention must be prioritized as a serious public health concern, the chief medical officer of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) stated in a new JAMA Psychiatry article. The commentary represents a call to action for policymakers, health system leaders, organizational leaders and the community to mitigate suicide risk during and after the pandemic.
