A settlement agreement reached in the long‐standing Katie A. et al. v. Diana Bontá et al . case will require Los Angeles County to increase intensive home‐based mental health services for foster children who have been through multiple placements and/or in group homes or psychiatric hospitals. The class action lawsuit, originally filed on July 18, 2002, challenged the county and state agencies for not providing legally mandated health care services to treat the mental health conditions of children.
