A new treatment currently under development may mean less likelihood of weight gain for patients with schizophrenia and bipolar 1 disorder, according to new research published online in the American Journal of Psychiatry . A single‐tablet combination treatment is intended to provide the efficacy of olanzapine while mitigating olanzapine‐associated weight gain in patients with serious mental illness, researchers suggested.
