Observing a need to prioritize serving individuals in crisis, particularly those individuals who are homeless, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors last month unanimously approved overhauling the city's mental health system and guaranteeing mental health care to all San Franciscans who lack insurance, and close care gaps. The program is considered the most comprehensive in the country to address access and service needs for people with mental illness, say officials.
