The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation on Oct. 16 announced that Cynthia Germanotta and the Born This Way Foundation are the recipients of the 2019 Honorary Pardes Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health for leadership in supporting the mental and emotional health of young people, GlobeNewswire reported. Germanotta is president and co‐founder of the Born This Way Foundation, which she launched with her daughter Lady Gaga in 2012. “Under Cynthia's leadership, the Born This Way Foundation has reached tens of thousands of young people across the country and around the world and launched innovative youth‐focused programming, such as teen Mental Health First Aid,” Herbert Pardes, M.D., for whom the prize is named, said. Pardes is president of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation's Scientific Council and executive vice chair of the board of trustees of New York‐Presbyterian Hospital. “We thank them for their extraordinary accomplishments and ongoing commitment to promoting mental health across the globe.” The Born This Way Foundation leverages evidence‐based research and authentic partnerships in order to provide young people with kinder communities, improved mental health resources and more positive environments online and offline.
