Pilot programs established under California's Section 1115 Medicaid waiver have made progress in care coordination for beneficiaries with complex needs, including persons with mental illness. With just over a year remaining for the pilot efforts, however, some barriers to optimal effectiveness remain, including some jurisdictions' difficulties in securing the technology needed for information sharing.
