Psychologists who treat Medicare patients may be facing a 7% payment decrease in 2021 to ensure higher payments for evaluation and management (E/M) services, the most frequently provided services by physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, according to a proposed rule on the 2020 Physician Fee Schedule from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
