The Smoking Cessation Leadership Center (SCLC) on Sept. 11 was named as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's new National Center of Excellence for Tobacco‐Free Recovery. One of a handful of centers, it is the first with a focus on tobacco‐free recovery, officials stated in a news release. The SCLC has launched a new campaign website for the National Center of Excellence. Among its goals, the National Center of Excellence will promote the adoption of tobacco‐free facilities, grounds and policies and educate behavioral health and primary care providers on effective evidence‐based tobacco‐cessation interventions. The center will also integrate evidence‐based tobacco‐cessation treatment practices into behavioral health and primary care settings and programs.
