Insurance, or rather the lack thereof, plays a pivotal role in a hospital's decision to transfer or admit pediatric children presenting with mental health disorders, according to research published this month in Pediatric Emergency Care . University of California, Davis researchers found that children without insurance are more than three times as likely to be transferred than those with private insurance.
