More than 10 years following passage of the federal mental health parity law, Senate lawmakers have introduced new legislation to tighten parity enforcement and improve transparency and accountability to help ensure consumers have access to mental health and substance use services in their plans. The bill seeks to eliminate disparities in the way insurance plans cover mental illness and substance use disorders.
