While suicide rates have traditionally been higher in male than in female youth, recent mortality data found that what's been considered a historically large gap between male and female youth may be narrowing. The findings underscore the urgency to identify prevention strategies that address the developmental needs of this population, say researchers of the study published May 17 in JAMA Network Open .
