Observing that more youth in confinement die by suicide than any other reported cause of death, new research into the high rates of suicide for incarcerated teens supports the need for improved suicide risk assessment and safety planning and interventions tailored to the specific incarceration setting, say researchers. The study was published Jan. 23 in the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry .
