Groups laud parity anniversary, bolstered by states' activities

Acknowledging that there is still a long way to go regarding full implementation and enforcement of the federal parity law, many in the mental health field say they are hopeful, even though 10 years have passed since the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) was signed into law. A few states have successfully passed legislation to require transparency and accountability from insurers, and other states are poised to continue that move in upcoming legislative sessions, they said.
