This technical panel session aims to bring together researchers and practitioners who are interested in exploiting quantitative and qualitative approaches to tracking and visualizing the development of science and technology, with special emphasis on the potential of information visualization techniques. The aim is to bring home some issues that have been the central concern of information scientists so as to promote cross‐disciplinary communications on topics such as scholarly communication, science studies, and knowledge discovery and information visualization.
