Abstract In this paper, the fatigue life of Al‐Zn713 alloy castings was studied. Based on stereological theory and finite element method, a new idea of material fatigue life prediction was proposed. Goldsmith‐Cruz‐Orive method was used to reconstruct the three‐dimensional distribution of micropores that based on the two‐dimensional distribution information. The stress analysis of the reconstructed three‐dimensional geometric model was carried out by finite element method. Combining with the modified Coffin‐Manson formula, a material fatigue life prediction system based on the distribution of micropores was established, which opened up a new direction for the research of material fatigue behavior and fatigue life.
