The submitted paper deals with the analytical processing of an analogy between the mechanical operating characteristic of a flexible disintegration tool and that of a rigid disintegration tool in cut surface generation and in chip formation. The roughness of cut surfaces is used here as an important characteristic both the types of tools. It enters as a necessary variable into newly derived equations enabling the theoretical calculation of parameters of a flexible cut and chip. Furthermore, it is utilized in the design of technological parameters, and a method to check and condition the regulation of the machining process in practice.
