Abstract In this lecture the challenges of testing the structural durability of electric vehicles are highlighted. The requirements and in particular differences in those for electric vehicles and cars with internal‐combustion engines are compared and illustrated. Current experiences with the MINI E and actual BMW hybrid cars are shown. Furthermore, testing concepts for specific electromobility components and their structural integration into the vehicle are explained. Finally an insight into possible future hybrid cars is presented.
