In the present project the use of ceramic materials in piston‐cylinder‐systems of high pressure pumps for gasoline direct injection is investigated. The aim is to generate injection pressures of 300 bar with low friction and wear despite of gasoline's poor lubricity and low viscosity. The high resistance of ceramic materials against wear is used to realise these aims.
