Two‐dimensional analysis using the finite difference method for temperature‐time response in heat conducting/insulating composite sheets is presented. Results of heat conduction in the longitudinal direction of steel and copper or aluminium composite sheets are evaluated. The effect of thickness ratio of the better conducting material to composite sheet on the temperature of the less conducting material, also temperature dead time, time constant and speed of response is analysed. The effect of source temperature and heat convection on the parameters of temperature response is investigated. Comparison of one‐ and two‐ dimensional analyses is studied.
