A Computer simulation method was set up to determine the number of ceramic test specimens recommendable for the experimental strength determination on structural components (e.g. on a tube section) under simulated operation conditions, assuming that these measurements can be supported by 4‐Point‐Bending‐(4PB)‐tests on small standard test specimens of the identical material The results show, that a small number of tests performed directly on components, (less than 5) is sufficient to determine the mean strength. To determine the strength for a technologically significant low fracture probability, 4PB‐tests with small standard tet specimens are recommended with a big number of specimens.
