For better estimates of the galvanic corrosion hazard a method is described which allows measurement and recording of the individual potentials, the mixed corrosion potential and the element current of conductively jointed metal couples in electrolytes. The data acquired from numerous couples of materials can be compiled into galvanic corrosion tables for different aggressive media which represent the galvanic corrosion behaviour in a considerably improved, more quantitative form than the previously used potentials listed in the “practical” electromotive series.
