Cover: The osmotic pressure Π as a function of the polymer concentration φ is given by a linear combination of the dilute and semidilute limits: $\Pi = \Pi_0 + \Pi_{\rm sd}$ , where $\Pi_0 = \varphi/N$ (Van't Hoff) and $\Pi_{\rm sd} \sim \varphi^{3\alpha}$ (De Gennes). An equivalent description is $\Pi/ \Pi_0 = 1 + (\varphi/ \varphi_{\rm ex})^{3\alpha-1}$ , where $\varphi_{\rm ex}$ is the extrapolation concentration.
