Biodegradable P[(R,S)‐3HB‐co‐LA] and P[(R,S)‐3HB‐co‐CL] copolyesters for special medical application, i.e. as scaffolds for cartilage and soft tissue engineering, were synthesized by transesterification of the corresponding homopolymers, i.e. a‐PHB and poly(L‐lactide) or a‐PHB and poly(e‐caprolactone), respectively. The carried out biological studies emphasized the biocompatibility of the copolymer PHBV/a‐PHB, in for its using in the manufacturing of the haemostatical dressings.
