Abstract Hyperbranched methacrylates were synthesized by Self‐Condensing Group Transfer Polymerization (SCGTP) of 2‐(2‐methyl‐1‐triethylsiloxy‐1‐propenyloxy)ethyl methacrylate (MTSHEMA) and characterized by multi‐detector SEC as well as quantitative 13 C‐NMR. Kinetic measurements revealed that side reactions limit the molecular weights and lower the polydispersity. A maximum degree of branching of DB  ≈ 0.4 and a reactivity ratio, r  =  k A / k B  = 18 ± 5, was determined.
