Summary: Comparison of swelling properties of linear and cross‐linked polyelectrolytes on the basis of diffusion theory is carried out. It is shown that viscosity of both positively and negatively charged macromolecules in solutions containing low‐molecualr ions may be predicted with the help of generalized Fuoss's law.
