Formaldehyde based resins are by far the most important adhesives for the production of wood based panels. This paper reviews in compact form the main application near features of these products including their composition, their molar mass distribution as well as their hardening behaviour, which all three parameters have decisive influence on the properties of the resins themselves and their performance as wood adhesives.
