Abstract The paper is concerned with an analysis of the dynamic properties of novel comb‐like liquid crystalline polycarbosilane, which are related to the reorientational processes responding to the applied ac electric field. Electro‐optical and switching effects of the polymer are estimated basing on the measurements of the transmitted light intensity as a function of temperature and ac electric field. The threshold voltage, rise and decay times are measured and discussed.
