The viscoelastic properties of main‐chain liquid‐crystalline polymers are reviewed with an emphasis on the main differences that these materials show with respect to the behaviour of ordinary polymers. The distinction between the anomalies directly arising from the material anisotropy and those which are related to the polydomain structure is also emphasised.
