Recent results obtained in microemulsion copolymerization are presented. The characteristic features of microemulsions ‐ large interfacial area and great variety of structures ‐ have been used with profit to yield novel materials with interesting morphologies and properties. The examples considered here include the synthesis of i) novel solid porous materials ii) functionalized microlatex particles iii) water‐soluble copolymers with specific properties iv) hydrophilic‐hydrophobic copolymers. The characteristics inherent to each of these syntheses are discussed.
