Cationic zirconium complexes of formula [Cp 2 ZrBz] + , [Cp'ZrBz 2 ] + , or [ZrBz 3 ] + (Cp = η 5 ‐C 5 H 5 , Cp' = Cp or η 5 ‐C 5 Me 5 , Bz = CH 2 C 6 H 5 ) have been tested as catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene and α‐olefins. The catalyst performances have been compared with regard to polymer productivities, molecular weights and stereoregularities, and tentatively correlated to the structure of the ionic active species.
