The ability of the cycloaddition reaction between aromatic aldazines and diisocyanates to form polymers was studied. Reaction conditions were found which allow the direct synthesis of telechelics by this reaction. These telechelics have two isocyanate end groups due to the nature of the cycloaddition reaction. Functionality of a telechelic oligomer was confirmed to be f = 1.95 by end goup titration. Chain extension experiments were successful with this material.
