Nine different flexible polyurethane foams of varying density and containing melamine and a phosphorus‐based flame retardant at different concentrations have been assessed for burning behaviours using oxygen index techniques at ambient and elevated temperatures. Major foam variables influencing flammability are density and melamine flame retardant content.
