Classical Ziegler‐Natta and Kaminsky‐Ewen catalysts promoting polymerization of hydrocarbon monomers are compared considering the reactivity and the stereochemical mechanisms of polymerization. It is suggested that also the “active sites” of heterogeneous catalysts could be cationic.
