Selected recent developments in the field of macromolecular engineering via ionic methods are presented: ω‐functional polymers and macromonomers, ampholytic block copolymers and novel thermoplastic block copolymers, star shaped macromolecules of several kinds. Attention is called upon the absolute necessity of adequately characterizing the samples obtained, in order to check wether their structure meets with expectation.
