Abstract Various polycondensations of silylated aromatic monomers, such as aminophenols, diphenols, hydroxy acids, dicarboxylic acids or acetoxybenzoic acids are reported. Reaction mechanisms and preparative usefulness of their polycondensations are discussed. In this connection also structure/property relationships of aromatic polyethers, liquid‐crystalline polyesters and poly‐(ester‐anhydride)s are mentioned.
