Poly (N‐alkyl‐3, 6‐carbazolediyl)s were synthesized by step polymerization of the corresponding 3, 6‐dibromo‐monomers, electrocatalyzed from a NiBr 2 /2.2&‐bipyridine complex in N, N dimethylacetamide. From both gel‐permeation chromatography analyses during the course of electrosynthesis and electrochemical behavior studies of the systems, it was deduced a coupling process occuring by step polymerization. Mechanism of formation of the growing chains, in homogeneous phase, is discussed. According to the proposed mechanism and to physical features, polymer chains have a well‐defined structure.
