The determination of reagent concentrations sufficient for gelation in the course of a crosslinking reaction in solution enables characterization of macromolecular coil dimensions as a function of solvent quality and calculation of the apparent equilibrium constant and the reaction order with respect to polymer. Interactions of polyuronides with polycoordinative metal ions are discussed.
