Abstract Polycyanurates were prepared by polycyclotrimerization of aromatic dicyanates in bulk. The reaction kinetics and the resulting build‐up of a trifunctional network was modelled. Modified polycyanurates were synthesized by a co‐reaction of dicyanates with diglycidyl ethers. The statistics of the resulting network building process was modelled by cascade theory combined with a model of the kinetics of structural elements. The good agreement between theory and experiment is shown.
