The mineral nature of silica gives it some particular properties. Its surface chemistry is very reactive. The interactions between silica and vulcanization agents such as accelerators are important and disturb the formation of the elastomer network. Following a description of silica surface chemistry we shall study the interactions of this filler with some accelerators and their impact on the cross‐linking density.
